Birthday Rooster
Tammy had a birthday last week. I won't say how old she turned...but it rhymes with 'dirty hive'. Nic and I had been scheming for a while and decided we wanted to give her a giant rooster. We located the perfect bird on KSL and Nic picked him up from the humble farmer. He warned Nic that 'the bird is marvelous, but VERY LOUD'. Perfect. After feeding him some vegetation from our yard and stuffing him into a cardboard box (with cut out windows I might add), he was ready for delivery. Dad came with me for the drop-off. We felt like a couple criminals sneeking into her backyard late at night, dropping off the bird, and scattering salad all over her yard. We were a little nervous that her cats might think it was their dinner we were dropping off, but alas, it was the cats that were hiding from the rooster.
Nic and I turned off our phones for the night...on purpose...and were delighted to turn them on at 8 am with floods of texts and voicemails from Tammy and Britten! HURRAY!! He started crowing at 3:45 am and continued to crow every 6 seconds until the following afternoon when she managed to sell him to some hungry buyers. She was DELIGHTED that we were so thoughtful with this gift. I don't think any of us have ever laughed so hard in our lives.
