Wow- what an awesome event for these 2nd graders. They dressed up like an emigrant (they were all given a character with lots of info to memorize), and had to go through the whole process of arriving at Ellis Island. Kendyl was "Leona Parks". I helped with this activity and actually felt really sorry for the kids who got deported or made the journey alone or sick! Ha! It just felt so realistic. The culminating activities at this school are unreal.
